About
Dovetail and Bevel
Inspired by the creativity, materials, and craftsmanship of times gone by, Dovetail and Bevel was formed. Having been raised around antique furniture, then worked 4 years for an antiques dealer, 15 years as an interior designer, and 5 years restoring a century property, Deidre Gilbert’s career has come full circle. She has returned to serve the trade in the greater Toronto area as a specialized antique furniture dealer. Deidre is focused on pieces that are meant for modern living; furniture that is beautiful, exceptionally crafted, and serves a purpose in your home, cottage, or business.
It takes years to hone the skills necessary to balance the restoration and refinishing choices for a piece of antique furniture. Deidre wants to see and feel the history in a piece but leave room for it to live and be loved in its next home. Some antiques demand more extensive work to re-establish their original appeal or strength. These decisions are thoughtfully made through a collaboration process with other professionals. Antiques are works of art, hand crafted 100 years ago or more to decorate, and function for, important spaces.
